In 2021, the Agnes Scott Writers’ Festival commemorates its 50th anniversary! Please join us the week of April 4-10 for a series of exciting events to mark this special occasion. We will be featuring returning Festival guests former US Poet Laureate Rita Dove, who was a guest for the 1992 Writers’ Festival, and playwright Jacqueline Goldfinger ASC ’00, who was a guest at the 2012 and 2018 Festivals. Save the date!

For the last twenty years of his life, poet Robert Frost, a friend of President Wallace Alston, would visit the Agnes Scott campus every spring on his way to Florida, staying for a week or so on campus to give readings, meet with students and faculty, and enjoy spring in Decatur. In the Frost tradition, since 1972 Writers’ Festival guests have come to campus to visit classes, meet with students and faculty, give formal readings and craft talks, and lead workshops for finalists in the festival writing contest.
